چکیده

1. Human placental cord serum contains a factor or factors necessary for active growth of fibroblasts in tissue culture and a factor which prevents the appearance of a characteristic toxicity. 2. The growth-promoting factor(s) is stable to heating to 60 degrees C. for 30 minutes and is associated with the euglobulin fraction of the serum. 3. Extraction of dried cord serum with benzene, chloroform, and ether does not cause any decrease in growth-promoting activity. 4. Sera from hypophysectomized, adrenalectomized, and thyroid-parathyroidectomized rats show as much growth-promoting activity as normal rat sera. 5. Bovine gamma globulins, anterior pituitary growth hormone, and insulin do not replace the serum growth factor. 6. The toxicity-preventing factor is serum albumin. 7. Evidence is presented that the toxicity is due to free fatty acids in the medium and that serum albumin acts by binding the fatty acids.

Tragacanth, a Novel and Cheap Gelling Agent in Carnation and Miniature Rose Tissue Culture Media

The natural tragacanth gum, the sap of Astragalus gummifer, has been successfully used as a gelling agent in tissue culture media for in vitro shoot development and proliferation of miniature rose and carnation. Shoot development of nodal segments excised from greenhouse grown plants, was investigated on MS medium solidified with either 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0% tragacanth or 0.8% agar as control....

Effect of Agar and Different Culture Media on the Micropropagation of Rosa hybrida cv.’Black Baccara’

In vitro propagation of plant has played a very important role in rapidmultiplication of cultivars with desirable traits and production of healthy and disease-free plants. In the present investigation, the objectives were to optimize the micropropagation of Rose hybrid ‘Black Baccarat’ cultivar. In proliferation step, the nodal segments (1.5 cm) was cultured on both liquid and solid media (MS, ...

Application of ZnO Nanoparticles for Inducing Callus in Tissue Culture of Rapeseed

Present study has comparatively investigated the effect of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs), ZnO bulk particles (BPs), and relevant metal ions (Zn2+) on the tissue culture of rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) to properly evaluate the impact of ZnO NPs on callus induction. For finding the best hormonal combination for inducing callus, hypocotyl explants were cultured on Murashige ...

Evaluating the Viability of Adipose Tissue-derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Diabetic Culture Media Model

Introduction: In diabetes mellitus, stem cells are exposed to inappropriate conditions such as an increase of glucose in extracellular space, oxidative stress, and deprivation from growth factors (following ischemia). This study was aimed to evaluate the effect of these conditions on stem cells. Methods: Stem cells were isolated from subcutaneous adipose tissue of rats. The cells were maintaine...
